One-Pan Cheeseburger Rice
Ingredients
- Yield: 4 servings
- 1 pound ground turkey or ground beef
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder, divided
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 2½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can beef broth
- ¼ cup water
- 1 cup white rice
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon white truffle oil
- 8 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded and divided
- Optional toppings: chopped dill pickles, shredded lettuce
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to low broil.
-
Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
Add ground beef or turkey and cook, breaking it apart,
until browned, about 7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
-
Season with salt, pepper, ½ tsp garlic powder,
ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce.
Stir to combine.
-
Add beef broth, water, and rice.
Bring to a boil, stirring to loosen browned bits from the pan.
-
Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer until rice is tender
and liquid is absorbed, about 18 to 20 minutes.
-
Stir together mayonnaise, ½ tsp garlic powder, and truff oil in a
small bowl to make the burger sauce.
-
Stir half of the shredded cheese into the rice mixture.
Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top.
-
Place skillet under the broiler until cheese is melted and bubbly,
about 1 to 2 minutes.
-
Serve topped with burger sauce, pickles, and shredded lettuce if desired.
Comments
Original recipe uses a different burger sauce with a little ketchup and mustard mixed in to the mayo. This would be a good substitue if you didn't have truffule oil.
